DSWD-NCR Joins the Nation in Celebrating the 32nd National Statistics Month

Field Office – NCR expresses its support to the nationwide celebration of the 32nd National Statistics Month through the conduct of number of approved activities relative to the theme “NSM @32: Revving up for Economic and Social Recovery through Evidence-Based Policies”. The annual observance of the National Statistics Month (NSM) is pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation No. 647 dated September 20, 1990, Declaring the Month of October Every Year as the National Statistics Month. The celebration aims to:

1. Promote, enhance and still awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society; and

2. To elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.

Streamers and Posters were displayed in the facade of the Field Office and Center/Residential Care Facilities from October 1-31, 2021 to show support with the nationwide celebration. This will also create awareness and advocate the importance of using good official statistics in the Department.

Statistical Trivia/Question and Answer Portion

The Contest was held on October 4, 2021 during the conduct of the Field Office Virtual Flag Ceremony. Staff of DSWD-NCR were asked random factual and figurative questions relative to statistics and the 32nd NSM theme. The contest aims to promote the importance and value of statistics to one’s field of activity and to generate greater awareness about facts and statistics of the Department. Ten (10) winning participants were awarded with Cash Prizes.

Infographic Design Contest

The Infographic Design Contest aims to (1) advocate the use of visual elements to present information and statistics; (2) convey information in a way that makes it relevant, easy to digest and understand; and (3) showcase skills of DSWD-NCR personnel in creating and designing infographics through the use of visual data, charts and statistics. Winners for the Contest were Mr. Mark Anthony O. Gaban from RPMO-Pantawid Pamilya as 1st place and Ms. Kathleen A. Chumacera from Reception and Study Center for Children as 2nd Place. They were awarded with Certificate of Recognition and PhP2,000.00 & PhP1,000.00 Cash Prizes, respectively.

Short Story Writing Contest

The Short Story Writing Contest which aims to (1) highlight the importance of statistics in one’s field of activity, (2) showcase skills in presentation and storytelling of DSWD-NCR personnel; and (3) share and inspire readers with the importance of statistics in day to day lives and experiences. Awarded with Certificate of Recognition and PhP2,000.00, PhP1,000.00 and PhP500.00 Cash Prizes are Ms. Ma. Fe Johanna D. Castro from Reception and Study Center for Children, Ms. Emma P. Lacsa from Reception and Study Center and Mr. Alfred Endraca from Learning and Development Section, respectively.
